Overview

The Advising Report is based on the unofficial transcript. The following list provides descriptions of the data fields on the Advising Report that do not also appear on the unofficial transcript. Note: The Advising Report may not include all these fields. Only data applicable to the requested record displays.

Admit Term The specific term (e.g., Fall 2014, Winter 2015) for which an applicant or student has been admitted and matriculated to a particular academic program (e.g., LS&A Undergraduate, Psychology Doctoral).
Student Groups A particular grouping of students for an administrative or financial purpose (e.g., Comprehensive Studies Program, Women in Science & Engineering).
Test Results Data from the results of the student's attempts at various tests administered by academic testing services (e.g., SAT, ACT, GRE).
Test ID The name of the specific standardized test taken by the student (e.g., SAT, ACT, GRE).
COMP. The specific standardized test component taken by the student (e.g., MATH, VERB).
SCORE The score a student achieved on a given test component.
PCT The percentile in which the student placed on a particular test component.
LTR GRD A character representation of the score received on a specific test component that cannot be accurately recorded in SCORE. This includes scores that are reported with non-zero values in the decimal positions (e.g., TOEFL Test of Written English) and scores reported as non-numeric values (e.g., MCAT Writing and MELAB Speaking). For the component scores recorded in this field, the value in SCORE will be zero.
TEST DATE The date on which the test component was administered.
SOURCE The means by which the student's results for a particular test component were reported to the University (e.g., Agency, Self-Reported).
ACAD LVL The student's academic level at the time a specific test component was taken (e.g., 12th Grade, Junior).
Student Placement Data from the results of the student's attempts at various placement exams administered by the University (particularly to incoming students).
TEST The specific subject area in which the student was tested (e.g., Chemistry, French).
DATE The date on which the placement exam was administered.
SCORE A The student's score on a specific placement exam, if applicable.
%ile A The percentile in which the student placed on a particular exam, if applicable.
SCORE B The student's score on the second graded section of a specific placement exam, if applicable.
%ile B The percentile in which the student placed on the second graded portion of a particular exam, if applicable.
PLACEMENT CODE The recommended placement code for the student, based on test scores and other relevant factors.
RECOMMENDATION Information about classes in which it would be appropriate to place the student, based on test scores and other relevant factors.
RATIONALE A summary of the factors considered in a particular recommendation (e.g., placement test scores, previous experience in the subject or related subjects, intended course of study at UM). If the LSA language requirement for a foreign language has been met, this information also displays.
