  • The Job Code is a six-digit code and description that identifies a unique job code title.
  • The type of information in the Job/Career Family, Salary Plan/Career Band, and Salary Grd/Job Role fields depends on whether the Job Code was included in the Job Classification System Project (implemented on 7/1/2005):

NOT Included in the Job Classification Project
Included in the Job Classification Project
Job Family: A reporting code value assigned by University Compensation to the Job Code. Career Family: A meaningful grouping of jobs commonly clustered within a career emphasis.
Salary Plan: A reporting code value assigned by University Compensation to the Job Code. Career Band: A sub-set of jobs commonly found in the market with a recognized specialty, grouped within the larger context of a Career Family.
Salary Grd: The salary grade assigned by University Compensation to the Job Code. Job Role: Categorizes classifications using criteria relating to the primary purpose of a job and the relationship jobs have to one another.

  • FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) Status identifies the employee's exemption status according to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). FLSA regulations govern each position’s eligibility for overtime payment. A status of Non-Exempt (NE) indicates eligibility for overtime payment at time-and-a-half, and that the employee has a bi-weekly pay frequency. A status of Exempt indicates that the employee is paid monthly.
  • The Market Job Description is the standard description associated with the Job Code by University Compensation. It is only displayed for Job Codes that were included in the Job Classification System Project. The specific job description that you use for your employees may have additional responsibilities and/or requirements.
